Pop icon Katy Perry expressed excitement as the New Shepard rocket from Blue Origin prepares to launch on April 14, 2025. The launch of the space mission represents a historic moment for commercial spaceflight because it carries an entire female crew as a symbol of inclusion toward astronaut diversity.

Prior to launch Perry shared on Instagram that she had wished to experience spaceflight during her fifteen-year-long dream and her dream would finally become reality on launch day. The video showcased crew teamwork during preparations before launch.

he NS-31 flight will be the 11th human mission for Blue Origin’s suborbital New Shepard program. Alongside Perry, the crew includes Jeff Bezos’ partner and pilot Lauren Sánchez, CBS journalist Gayle King, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

The suborbital flight of New Shepard will start its launch at 9:30 am EDT. The rocket flight will transport its six-member crew ahead of the Kármán line that defines space as 100 kilometre’s above Earth.

Blue Origin, under Jeff Bezos’ management, has carried 52 individuals into outer space, among which Jeff Bezos and actor William Shatner were passengers. The mission contributes to Blue Origin’s growing space tourism operations, which seeks to make space access available to a wide range of people.
