Why the trainees were fired?
Through company emails sent on April 18 it became clear that 240 trainees lost their positions when they failed to reach the requirements of Infosys’ Generic Foundation Training Program. Additional doubt-clearing sessions and several attempts at passing the assessments along with extended preparation time proved fruitless because the trainees were unable to qualify according to the Infosys’ Generic Foundation Training Program. Their abilities to pursue the apprenticeship program at the company ended because of this failure.

Each trainee included in the severance package will obtain their salary from the past month. The company has arranged professional outplacement services through its email because “We planned professional outplacement services to assist you during your job search outside Infosys.”
This personnel reduction occurs during challenging times due to difficulties in the current market along with Infosys’s estimate of minimal fiscal-year revenue growth from zero to three percent. India’s second-largest IT services firm Infosys recently confirmed their plans to recruit approximately 20,000 new graduates during the coming financial year FY26 according to CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka.
