The operations of IndiGo and Akasa Air went from Terminal 2 to the newly renovated Terminal 1 at Delhi Airport because of this change.

The T1 design represents sustainable elements as well as comfortable environmental features. The terminal achieved LEED certification by using natural lighting as well as recycled water in combination with green energy systems. The T1 terminal aims to achieve complete carbon emission elimination by 2030.
The terminal now stretches across 206,000 sq. meters while its roof alters colour through daylight changes and its ceilings rise high above the floor. Art installations by Indian artists also adorn the space, celebrating the cultural richness of India.
T1 will also include modern facilities like self-check-in kiosks, advanced baggage scanners, and mobile check-in options to reduce wait times. The number of baggage belts has also increased, and there’s improved access to cabs, Metro, and a 24/7 shuttle service running every 20 minutes to connect terminals.
