Actor fawad khan took to Instagram to condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead and several injured. The actor expressed deep sadness about hearing reports of the vicious attack that occurred in Pahalgam. His public statement emerges one day following the incident which intensified demands to avoid watching his upcoming film Abir Gulaal directed by Aarti S. Bagdi. The romantic comedy movie will premiere on May 9 in London. The director planned his return to film production in Bollywood after nine years of absence through his upcoming release despite Pakistani artists being banned from the Indian film industry since 2016 Uri terror attack.
However, a ruling by the Bombay High Court dismissed efforts to impose an official ban.
Kapoor echoed Khan’s sentiments on her Instagram story and wrote, “Have been numb, at a loss of words since the time I have seen the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families.”
The terror attack at Pahalgam on April 22 (2025) increased demands to prohibit Abir Gulaal as FWICE reissued its mandate to end Indian collaboration with Pakistani performers and technical workers in the film and entertainment field.
FWICE has reissued a comprehensive boycott order against Pakistani artists and technicians who work on Indian films and entertainments. This includes performances or collaborations occurring anywhere in the world,” the FWICE said.
“We would like to emphasise that any member of our organisation or it’s affiliate associations, such as the actors, directors, other technicians and producers or the production houses found cooperating with Pakistani personnel, will be subject to disciplinary action. We will take all essential actions to prevent ‘Abir Gulaal’ from getting released in India according to this statement.
The actor Khan continued his international work by starring in Ms. Marvel (2022) and The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022) which became Pakistan’s top-grossing release despite his earlier work in Khoobsurat (2014) and Kapoor & Sons (2016). The actress Kapoor shines in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021) while performing in Mandala Murders from Netflix and Badtameez Gill which is upcoming in Bollywood films.
